Question

How do I change the settings of how assignments are displayed in my Vantage gradebook?

Solution

You can quickly get to the gradebook for any course by locating that course on your My Courses dashboard and opening the Gradebook page.

You can access your Vantage gradebook from the course tile on your My Courses dashboard.

If you are already in another area of your Vantage course, you can easily get to the Gradebook from the top navigation menu.

If you are in another tab of your course, you can use the top navigation menu to access the Gradebook tab.

You can adjust the completion and grade display of your gradebook by clicking the gear icon at the top right corner of the gradebook.

At the top right of the gradebook, clicking the gear icon allows you to access the Grade Display settings page.

The default display options show both points and percentages for assignments for grades. Assignments for completion show the completion indicator using a dash for assignments that are not yet completed and a purple circle for completed attempts.

On the Grade Display page, you can change the default settings for all assignments. For assignments for grades, you can choose to show points, percentages, or both. For assignments for completion, you can choose to show points or a completion indicator.

These settings translate to a series of dashes, purple circles and grades based on a student's progress through the assignments. Assignments for a grade that are not yet attempted will be blank.

This image shows examples of default grade displays. An assignment for completion with no attempts displays a grey dash. An assignment for completion that a student has completed shows a purple circle. An assignment for a grade displays the point value of the grade and the percentage (15 / 15 | 100%).

You can change assignments for grades to show only the points or the percentage.

The Grade Display for assignments for a grade can be set to show only points or percentages. In this example image, on the left, only the point value is shown (15 / 15). On the right, only the percentage is shown (100%).

You can also change assignments for completion to show the point value instead of the completion indicator.

In this example image, the grade display for an assignment for completion is set to point value instead of an indicator. In this case, the points display in the same format as an assignment for a grade (5 / 5).
